Bob Barnett is a lifelong resident of West Virginia. He taught sport history for thirty-five years at Marshall University, and has written more than 300 articles for publications as varied as the Washington Post, Saturday Evening Post, Sports Heritage Magazine, West Virginia's Goldenseal Magazine, and the Dallas Cowboy News. He was also a section editor for the Encyclopedia of Appalachia.
Bob married his high school girlfriend, Liz Arner. The Barnetts live in Huntington, West Virginia and Sarasota, Florida.
