KENTUCKY ALMANAC, A GREAT FAMILY RESOURCE

Every family in Kentucky should own the Premier Edition of "Clark’s Kentucky Almanac and Book of Facts." It is the best and most readable reference source available on Kentucky and would be used frequently by adults and children.

This modestly-priced softback book was produced by the Clark Group in Lexington and contains easy to read units on current events, history, recreation, travel, sports, cities, counties, natural resources & environment, government, politics, culture & arts, people, weather & climate, crime, business & economy, religion, education, family trends, media, health & science.

If your child is making a report on a town or county, the "Kentucky Almanac" contains basic information, demographics, and statistics that define Kentucky’s changing economic and social structure.

If you want to settle an office disagreement on sports, the "Kentucky Almanac" contains stories, statistics, and personalities of Kentucky’s high school, college, and professional sports. Basketball, football, and baseball are covered in detail, and so is golf, horse racing, auto racing, and boxing.

If you’re gathering information for a family vacation or outing, the "Kentucky Almanac" has the information you need.

The "Kentucky Almanac" is available in the JSF Bookstore at 1645 Winchester Avenue in downtown Ashland.

ICY SPARKS

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for the visit of Gwyn Hyman Rubio, author of "Icy Sparks" and "The Woodsman’s Daughter." Mrs. Rubio will be at the Jesse Stuart Foundation on Friday, January 27 from 2:30 - 4:30 for a booksigning and will present a public lecture followed by a discussion, beginning at 7:00 that evening. Before she returns home, she’ll do another signing the next morning from 10 a.m. - noon.

UK vs UTEP, 1966

The current movie about the NCAA basketball championship game between Kentucky and Texas Western may prompt you to read a book in our store by Frank Fitzpatrick, "And The Walls Came Tumbling Down: The Basketball Game That Changed American Sports." It is interesting and informative, but Big Blue fans will probably disagree with Fitzpatrick’s characterization of Adolph Rupp.
