Herbs: Cultivating & Cuisine

Author: Carol Asher

Carol Asher combines her enthusiasm for gardening and devotion to cooking in her newest cookbook. HERBS-Cultivating & Cuisine. Her first book, Especially Herbs-Recipes & Garden Ideas Made Simple, was published in 1994.

In this book she shares easy=to-prepare recipes using both fresh and dried herbs, and educates her readers with “gentle lessons” on herbs. She uses her extensive knowledge of herbs to teach beginners about the history of herbs as well as how to plant, grow, harvest and store them. Asher wraps up her lessons by providing readers not only a zone map but also an easy-to-read chart with common and Latin names of herbs plus descriptions and uses.

Graceful sketches of herbs are sprinkled throughout the book along with tidbits of lore “to-do” hints, plus other whimsical elements of verse which dot the pages to delight readers. Garden ideas and designs lovingly drawn by her artist-husband, Jim, are used to divide chapters.

So pull on those garden gloves, grab your spade, bring out the chopping block and prepare to indulge your senses in the wonders of HERBS-Cultivating & Cuisine.
